Mission Impossible Part 8 Review: Action Wins Over Story

Mission Impossible Part 8 works brilliantly in action sequences and edge-of-the-seat moments; however, the story is not very strong. Basically, the story revolves around an AI that is no longer under human control and wants to conquer and destroy the world. On the other side, as usual, Tom Cruise is supposed to destroy the AI before it destroys the world, just like he did in the previous Mission Impossible films, but this time with an endgame feeling. The Mission Impossible movies have genuinely gotten better as they have gone along. Mission Impossible: Fallout is, to this day, considered by many people to be an action classic and one of the best action movies ever made. Because of that, people’s expectations for the last part of the franchise were extremely high, and many viewers ended up feeling disappointed with the movie.

The Franchise After So Long:

Mission Impossible could literally be watched from any part; however, the 7th part of the movie changed a few things, which created an issue. The movie starts with a recall of the previous part and a lot of explanations, which were not repetitive but still felt exhausting. When the first massive action sequence starts, the scene cuts off, but when it returns, it makes everyone feel that the movie is worth watching because of those submarine scenes, which were intense and amazing.

Music v/s Action During Scenes:

People found the music extremely good and calm, but when the submarine scene arrived, the music became very restrained, and the notes dropped slowly and steadily. The finishing touch was obviously incredible. The background score deserves appreciation because it never tries to overpower the action scenes unnecessarily. Instead, it slowly builds tension and allows viewers to actually feel the suspense during important moments. The music during quieter scenes especially helped create a serious and dangerous atmosphere.

Thrill and The Villain:

While the continuous action takes place, the story still moves forward, which creates great thrill. The villain was an AI whose aim was to destroy the world through its hacking abilities. The concept of an AI villain felt modern and realistic because technology has become such a huge part of today’s world. Even though the villain did not have a strong emotional presence like older Mission Impossible villains, the danger still felt massive because the AI could control systems and information globally. The movie keeps the audience engaged by constantly creating tension and unpredictable situations.

Characters and Acting:

The franchise hit the viewers’ nostalgia, and to do so the movie brought many old characters back; however, some fit perfectly into the movie while others did not. Tom Cruise once again received applause for his running scenes in the franchise. The speed of his running is always discussed because, obviously, who would run like a turtle when their life depends on it? Tom Cruise once again proves why he is still one of the biggest action stars in Hollywood. His dedication to performing dangerous stunts and maintaining the same energy even after so many years is genuinely impressive. The chemistry between the returning characters also adds emotional value to the movie, especially for longtime fans of the franchise. However, some supporting characters could have been given more depth and importance in the story.

Overall Review: Hit or Fail ?

The movie is good; however, it should not had to have the unnecessary parts.Despite its weak storytelling in certain areas, Mission Impossible Part 8 still succeeds in delivering thrilling action, suspenseful moments, and visually impressive sequences that make it entertaining for fans of the franchise.
